
IGNOU Distance Education: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a Government university that was established in 1985, by the act of Parliament. IGNOU offers around 325 programs including Undergraduate, postgraduate, Diploma and certificate courses through online and Distance mode (ODL).

IGNOU Distance Education Course Admission 2025
IGNOU Distance Education has started admission for all UG and PG courses such as BBA, BCom, MBA, MCom, etc., from 6 June 2025 and the last date for the admission, which is decided by the officials of the university is 15 July 2025.
The University approves the admission forms of only those candidates who successfully meet the eligibility criteria of the course that he/she is selecting. Moreover, applicants are advised to reach out to the official website of IGNOU to take admission: https://www.ignou.ac.in/.
Also, it is mandatory for the interested and eligible candidates to know that they have to pay INR 300 for registration with the course fee at the time of admission. The university takes the payment through credit card, debit card, and internet banking.
IGNOU Distance Education Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for taking admission into the UG as well as PG courses are different, and a candidate must fulfill the criteria. Here we have mentioned the eligibility criteria of IGNOU Distance Education University:-
Eligibility UG Courses: For admission into the Undergraduate courses of IGNOU, a candidate must have completed their 10+2 from a well-recognized state and central board in the domain of the respective course opted by the applicant.
Eligibility PG Courses: The eligibility criteria for enrolling in the Postgraduate courses offered at IGNOU, is that an applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree with 50% of marks from a UGC approved and well-recognized University.
IGNOU Distance Education UG Courses
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers a wide range of courses such as BBA, BCom, BSc, and many more through Distance mode, which helps the applicants to pursue their higher education while working in the field. Here we have mentioned some of the Undergraduate courses of IGNOU with their fees:-
- Bachelor of Business Management:- The School of Management at IGNOU offers a 3-year degree that is BBA, in two specializations: Service Management and Retailing. Applicants who have completed their 10+2 can enroll for this program as well, and they have to pay INR 30,000 for three years, including the registration fee of INR 300.
- Bachelor of Commerce:- The other 3-year undergraduate program offered by the School of Management Studies at IGNOU is BCom. This program is provided in 20 credits. The total fee of BCom at IGNOU is INR 4,500, including the registration fee of INR 300.
- Distance BSc:- IGNOU provides a Bachelor of Science program in 7 disciplines such as Mathematics, Zoology, Physics, Botany etc. applicants who have passed their 10+2 with science as a core subject can access https://www.ignou.ac.in/ for admission forms.
- Distance BA:- The School of Humanities provides a BA program with a duration of 3 years in multiple disciplines, and candidates have to select three disciplines to get a Bachelor’s degree. The fees of the BA program at IGNOU are INR 4,500 per year, which is affordable and accessible to the candidates.
- Distance BSW:- Applicants who want to make their career in social work can take admission in a 3-year undergraduate BSW program of IGNOU. IGNOU Distance Education PG Courses
Apart from the Undergraduate courses, Indira Gandhi National Open University also provides Postgraduate programs, which are as follows:-
- Master of Business Administration:- The MBA program available at IGNOU is approved by AICTE and is offered in 9 specializations. Graduates who have scored 50% of marks in their graduation can enroll in any of the specializations from https://www.ignou.ac.in/ before 15 July 2025. The total fees of the MBA program at IGNOU are INR 64,000, out of which candidates have to pay INR 15,500 in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th semester and INR 17,500 in the 3rd semester, including the registration fee of INR 300, which is non-refundable.
- Master of Commerce:- The duration of the MCom program at IGNOU is 2 years, which can be extended to 4 years as per the choice of the applicants. IGNOU approves the admission forms of only those candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50% of marks. The tuition fees of the MCom Program at IGNOU are INR 9,700 per semester, and the fee for the whole 2-year program is INR 19,400.
- Distance MCA:– Candidates who want to make their future in the software field, and are interested in learning the different languages of the computer, such as Java, Python, C++, and more, can enroll for IGNOU’s 2-year postgraduate MCA program. The total fee for the MCA program at IGNOU is INR 12,700 per semester.
- Distance MA:- Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) provides an MA program in numerous specializations. Applicants who have completed their Bachelor’s degree and secured 50% of marks can access the official website of the University (mentioned above) for the admission forms. The total tuition fee of the MA program is INR 15,400 for the whole 2 years. Apart from the course fee, candidates have to pay INR 300 for registration at the time of admission.
- Distance MSc:- The School of Continuing Education at IGNOU provides an MSc program in several specializations. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with 50% of marks to enroll in the MSc program of IGNOU. The fees of this program are INR 17,000 per year, including the registration fees and examination fee of INR 300, as well as INR 200 respectively.
IGNOU Distance Education Admission Process 2025
NOTE:- DEB ID is mandatory for submission of the application. Please create your DEB ID before starting the application process.
- Candidates need to visit the official website of IGNOU ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in, for registration.
- Now, the applicant will see an option on the left side of the page, i.e., “Click here for new registration”. Click on that option and enter all the details asked for to complete the registration.
- After registration, in the next step, candidates have to log in by clicking on the “Registered user login” on the right-hand side of the page and fill in all the required details such as username, password, and captcha.
- Also, the applicant will receive a login ID on their registered email address, which is useful for logging into the account.
- In case any applicant forgets the username or password, they can reset it by clicking on to Reset your Password or Forgot Username. After logging in, the candidate will reach the application form page.
- On reaching the page of the application form, select the program and again fill in all the details such as Username, Father’s name, registered Email ID, Registered Mobile Number.
- Now, upload all the documents like a passport-sized photograph, signature, educational qualifications, and a Valid ID proof.
- Recheck the form once again before paying fees and pay the registration and course fee via Credit card, Debit Card, and Internet Banking.
- After the payment candidate will receive a confirmation email on their registered email ID.
