National Sanskrit University Distance Education: National Sanskrit University, which was primarily known as Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, is deemed to be a university located in Tirupati. It was established as a central university, by an act of parliament. The Directorate of Distance Education was established in the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati in the Academic year 2003-04 with the permission of the Distance Education Council (Now UGC-DEB).

Towards the fulfilment of the goals of establishing the DDE, it started attracting a good number of students, from various backgrounds of study like engineering, medicine, and administration apart from traditional sastra, from all over the country.

The main objective of the university is to make Sanskrit higher education reach the unreached and to promote continuous learning in Sanskrit. It also provides Sanskrit education at a lower cost, to provide educational opportunities to those, who are in need. The university offers Sanskrit, at both Bachelor level and master’s.

National Sanskrit University distance education will commence the admission process for all the offered courses SHASTRI Hons, BA in Sanskrit, ACHARYA, PG Diploma in Yoga Vijnana in multiple specializations in the first week of March 2025. National Sanskrit University Distance Education Admission 2025 

The admission process at National Sanskrit University Distance education is likely to commence in mid-March. The University will send the official notification through the website https://nsktu.ac.in/index.php/distance-education. University offers various UG and PG courses in various Sanskrit fields. 25 March 2025 will be the last date for National Sanskrit University distance education admission 2025.

The University offered the below programs if the minimum number of 5 eligible applications were received for each programme. To be eligible to study UG programs candidates must come 10+2 with at least 45% marks, while to study PG programs, candidates must pass a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant fields, with at least 45% marks.

Admission is based on merit, candidates can apply for admission through the official website mentioned above. The application fee is INR 700, and the academic session will begin in October.  The fees range from INR 1,950 to INR 13,200,  which can be paid through online banking, including Debit/Credit cards, Net Banking, Paytm, UPI, etc. The university also provides special reservations, as well as scholarships, for those students in need.

Eligibility Criteria of National Sanskrit University Distance Education UG Courses

Shastri (Hons.): The university offers, Shastri in two specializations, including Sahitya and Vyakarana. The course is a 3-year UG program, with the minimum age being 17 years old, as of March 31st, 2025. The course will be studied, in Sanskrit, and for modern subjects in English. To be required to study this course candidates must complete any of the following criteria:

  • Prak-Shastri, Uttara Madhyama, Madhyama, Varishtopadhyaya, Upa Shastri, Sahitya, Veda Vibhushan, or Intermediate with Sanskrit.
  • Vichakshana of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor
  • Diploma in Sanskrit/Shastra

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Sanskrit): The university offers, a Bachelor of Arts in Sanskrit. The course is a 3-year UG program, with the minimum age being 17 years old, as of March 31st, 2025. To be required to study this course candidates must complete any of the following criteria. (Prak-Shastri, Uttara Madhyama, Madhyama, Varishtopadhyaya, Upa Shastri, Sahitya, Veda Vibhushan).

  • Intermediate with Sanskrit (or equivalent under the 10+2 pattern)
  • Candidates who have studied Sanskrit as one of the subjects in +2 / Intermediate, or those who have completed a Certificate / Diploma Program in Sanskrit offered by NSU or similar institutions, are given preference.

Eligibility Criteria of National Sanskrit University Distance Education PG Courses

Acharya (Level – Masters): The University offers masters in the given specialisations, Puranetihasa, Dharmasastra, Jyotish Acharya and Sahitya. It is offered for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 6 years. To be eligible to study this degree candidates must be of a minimum of 20 years, as of 31st March 2025. Any of the following criteria should be following criteria, to study this degree:

  • 3-year degree course/Shastri in respective subjects. (Candidates with Sanskrit as a second language or one of the graduate-level subjects are also eligible).
  • Siromani/Madhyama/SastraBhushana/Vidyapravena/Vidyalankara/Vedalankara/Vidwat Madhyama or equivalent exams from approved institutions.
  • B.A. (O.L)/B.A. (L), B.A./B.A. (Hons.)/B.O.L or equivalent with Sanskrit from recognized universities.

Post Graduate Diploma (Yoga Vijnana): The university also offers a two-year diploma course in Yoga Vijnana. To be eligible to study this degree, candidates must be a of minimum 20 years, as of 31 March 2025, and the maximum age must not reach above 45 years. To study this course students must pass in 3 years degree course or its equivalent from any recognised university. 

Application Process for National Sanskrit  University Distance Education Admission 2025

Admissions for National Sanskrit University Distance Education programs for the academic year 2025 will begin in March. Candidates can apply online through https://nsktu.ac.in/index.php/distance-education, where they can complete the application process and make payments. The application process is straightforward below are the steps to apply for the program:

  • Visit the NSU Distance Education Website https://nsktu.ac.in/index.php/distance-education.
  • Now Click on ‘Admissions 2025’ and select your desired program. Register on the portal using your email ID and phone number.
  • Fill out the Application Form Complete the online application form with accurate details.
  • Upload scanned copies of your photo, signature, qualifying certificates, and ID proof.
  • The application fee is ₹700, and course fees online through the secured payment gateway.
  • After filling out the form and uploading documents, submit your application.
  • Save the application number for future reference.
