GNDU Distance Education: Guru Nanak Dev University is a Public State University, in Amritsar, Punjab. The university established the Directorate of Open & Distance Learning (ODL) in 2018-19 as a part of the university. GNDU is recognized by the UGC and accredited by NAAC. The University aims to provide quality Education, surpassing socio-economic and time/age barriers.

The University ranked 15 out of 92 colleges in India in 2024 by The Week and 1975 out of 20,966 in the World, And 64th in India by the CWUR. The University was also ranked 271 in Asia by QS World University Rankings and ranked 87th in the Overall category by NIRF.

Guru Nanak Dev University Distance Education ODL offers 12 Distance learning courses which includes 4 undergraduate (UG), 6 Postgraduate (PG) and 2 UG Diploma courses in Commerce, Arts, Computer Applications, Library & Information science fields. GNDU Distance Education Admission 2025

The online registration for Guru Nanak Dev University Distance learning courses will begin from 20 January 2025 tentatively. Once the admission is open, interested students will be able to apply for the undergraduate programs like BA (English, Punjabi, Economics, Sociology, History, Political Science, Public Administration), B.Com, Bachelor in Library and Information Science, BCA, BBA and PG courses such as MA (English, Punjabi), M.Com, MBA, and MCA.

The university will conduct merit based admission for all ODL programs which means there will be no entrance test. The application process will be entirely online and students can complete it from the official website https://odl.gndu.ac.in/HomePage.aspx.

The expected last date for GNDU Distance Education Admission 2025 will be 20 February 2025. The application fee for the general category is INR 500 and INR 250 for the reserved category.

GNDU Distance Education Eligibility Criteria

Candidates willing to be admitted to GNDU need to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned by the University. The eligibility criteria for each course are mentioned below – 

  • Distance BA (English, Punjabi, Economics, Sociology, History, Political Science, Public Administration): Interested students are required to pass their class 12th exams from the Punjab School Examination Board or any other recognized University with relevant subjects. 
  • Distance B.Com/ Distance BBA: Applicants who have passed their HSc (10+2) exams with commerce or relevant subjects are eligible.
  • Distance BCA: One must pass 12th class with Mathematics or relevant subjects from a reputed board.
  • Distance BLIS/ Distance BLIB: Candidate must have passed BA/B.Sc/B.Com or equivalent UG degree from any UGC-Entitled university.
  • Distance MCA: Applicants are required to have a BCA/BSc IT/BTech or any Computer Science UG degree or Any degree with mathematics at 12th or UG level.
  • Distance MA / Distance MBA: Students must pass BBA or any UG degree from a reputed university.
  • Distance M.Com: Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in commerce background or a UG degree with similar subjects  from a recognized University.

GNDU Distance Education Admission Procedure 2025

The Guru Nanak Dev University mentioned the step by step to apply for its ODL courses admission. Students can follow the below steps which are directly from the official admission prospectus tp complete their application submission:

  1. Go to https://online.gndu.ac.in/ or https://odl.gndu.ac.in/.
    Hover over the “Admissions” menu and click on “Open & Distance Admission
    Click on “Click Here for New Registration
  2. If you are already registered with GNDU, select “Already Registered Student of GNDU“.
  3. If you studied elsewhere or just passed 10+2, choose “From Other Board/University“.
  4. Fill your personal details in the form then upload a passport-sized photo and signature (Keep both under 20 KB & in JPG format).
  5. Then submit and you’ll be redirected to GNDU registration page.
  6. Now, Use your new Student ID and password to log in. Click on “Open and Distance Learning Admission“.
  7. Click on “Apply for Course” then select the desired course and your preferred Learner Support Centre. Then click “Add Course“.
  8. Review the list of courses applied for. Click “Pay Application Fee“.
  9. Choose a payment method, complete the payment, and confirm.
    Once the payment is successful, print your application form for reference.
