Kerala University Distance Education: The University of Kerala was founded in the year of 1937 by the Maharaja of Travancore,  Sri Chithira Trinul Balarama Varma, who was also the first Chancellor of the university. It is a well known university of India entitled by UGC-DEB, and re-accredited by NAAC with an “A++” grade. KU school of distance education started in 1976 (now CDOE) as a teaching and research department of the University and is one of the state’s centres for ODL learning.

Kerala University CDOE offers admission to 23 Open and Distance Leanring (ODL) programms. These courses includes 11 undergraduate (UG) and 12 postgradute (PG) courses under Arts, Commerce, Science, Library Science and Managemet fields. The online admission forms for the academic year 2025-26 will release on 11 July 2025 on its official website.

10+2 pass outs will be eligible for UG courses while graduate will be eligible for PG courses. The registration process will be online/offline and ideku.net admission 2025 last date will be 31 August 2025. The registration fee for all offered programmes will be Rs.105/-.

Kerala University Distance Education Admission 2025 

Kerala University will commence its admission in July 2025. The tentative date for the starting of Online registration is 11/07/2025*. The last date for admission is 31st August 2025*. It is mandatory to send the hard copies of the application to the CDOE office within 15 days from the date of submission of the online application by Speed Post. 

UGC – DEB has recommended 11 UG and 12 PG programmes at Kerala University CDOE for the academic year 2025-26. These include BLISc, BBA, B.Com, B.A, MLISc, M.Com, and M.A, all of them in various specialisations. Students who wish to register themselves need to register themselves online for IDEKU Admission 2025-2026 at the Kerala University website https://sde.keralauniversity.ac.in/sdeadmission/login

The fees of UG and PG courses range from INR 7,000 to INR 25,000 making it more affordable for the marginalised sectors, which can be passed through online methods like Net Bankings, Debit/Credit Cards, Paytm, UPI, and Razor Pay. Fees can also be paid in instalments with minimal low-cost EMI, making it easier for payers. The university also provides scholarships and reductions for sections in need. 

Eligibility Criteria Kerala University Distance Education Courses

For UG courses

  • Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences: To be eligible in this course a candidate must complete a bachelor’s degree with at least 40% marks. 
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA): To be eligible to study this course must pass in 10+2 with a recognised board with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com): To study this candidate must pass in 10+2 in any recognised board or equivalent course and 45% minimum marks for non-Commerce stream.
  • Bachelor of Arts (All specializations): Kerala University offers a Bachelor of Arts in many specialisations mentioned below. To study these courses candidates must pass 10+2 with any recognised board.

For PG courses

  • Master of Library and Information Sciences: To study this course candidate must complete a BLISc or equivalent degree. 
  • Masters of Commerce (M.Com) (Finance): To be eligible for this course candidate must study any of the given degrees with a minimum 4.5 CCPA – B.Com/BBA/BBM.
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) (Sociology): Students must have studied BA/BSc/B/Com/BBA/B/Tech with at least 4.5 CCPA and in BSc must have 6 CCPA.
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) (Public Administration): Must complete BA/BSc/BBA with a 4.5 CCPA.
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) (Political Science): To study this course candidate must have completed BA/B.Com/BBA/BSc Psychology with 4.5 CCPA/ 6 CCPA for BSc.
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) (History): To be eligible for B.  A History candidate must completa e a BA with a 4.5 CCPA. 
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) (English): To be eligible for B.AnnA English candidates must complete BA English with a 4.5 CCPA. And 5 CCPA for others.
  • Masters of Science (M.Sc): Masters of science are given in two specialisations, and the eligibility is given below. 
  • Masters of Science (M.Sc) (Computer Science): To study computer science specialisation candidate must complete a BSc Computer Science/Electronics /BCA with 5 CCPA 
  • Masters of Science (M.Sc) (Mathematics): To study with Mathematics specialisation students must complete a BScinh Mathematics/Statistics with a 5.5 CCPA. 

Kerala University Distance Education Admission Process 2025

The latest admission notifications for Kerala University distance education are available on the SDE website: http://www.ideku.net/. Students who wish to apply for Kerala University distance education can do so by applying online through the online website mentioned above.

Hard copies of applications filled properly should be sent to The Director, School of Distance Education, University of Kerala, Kariavattom Campus, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 581, by the registered post with written “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO (Name of the programme),” with the documents required.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to register for KU Distance Learning Admission Online:

  1. Make sure to read all the online admission instructions given on the college website/
  2. Verify eligibility criteria before submitting fees.
  3. Remit the first-semester tuition fee.
  4. Visit the official websites: www.ideku.net or www.sde.keralauniversity.ac.in.
  5. Click on the link ONLINE ADMISSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-26.
  6. Click on the Start Registration button.
  7. After this log in with the application number and password provided to you, to continue the registration process. 
  8. Take a printout of the application form.
  9. Send the printed application form along with the fee receipts (Cost of Prospectus, first-semester fee, admission fee, affiliation, and other applicable fees, DDF receipt of Rs.105/-) and required documents to: The Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education, SDE, University of Kerala, Kariavattom Campus, TVPM – 695581.
  10. Applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OEC/OBC (H) category should produce the printout of the E-Grantz online application for the fee concession category from Akshaya Kendram, along with the following documents:
  • Copy of SSLC certificate
  • Copy of +2 and Degree Certificate
  • Original Caste Certificate & Income Certificate
  • Copy of Aadhar Card
  • Copy of Bank Passbook (front page).
