Mumbai University Distance Education: The University of Mumbai established its correspondence education (IDOL) between 1971-72, then in 1993, the Directorate of Distance Education upgraded to an institute of distance education. The university began providing correspondence programs. The college Syndicate conducted a meeting on 26th September 1970, and the proposal for external and more correspondence courses was made. The programs were proposed to benefit the students who can avail both evening and morning classes. The suggestion was provided to the Academic Council and council-appointed team by the Syndicate.
All ODL programs at the IDL Mumbai University are approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and DEB (Distance Education Bureau). IDOL Mumbai University provide admission to a 28+ open and distance learning courses at UG, PG, Diploma & Certificate courses. Eligibility Criteria for IDOL Mumbai University
Mumbai University Distance Education provides a wide range of distance-mode courses, and the enrollment is based on entrance exams and the merits of the candidate in the previous qualifying exam. For UG Courses: Students must pass out 10+2 from a recognized educational board with minimum of 50% marks, while those who belong to the reserved categories (OBC, EWS, PwD) should have at least 45% marks and for BCom course students should have studies mathematics in 10+2.
