
National Sanskrit University Distance Education: National Sanskrit University, which was primarily known as Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, is deemed to be a university located in Tirupati. It was established as a central university, by an act of parliament. The admission procedure is likely to begin in the first week of March at the National Sanskrit University Distance education for the 2025 academic session. Shastri (Hons.): The university offers, Shastri in two specializations, including Sahitya and Vyakarana. The course is a 3-year UG program, with the minimum age being 17 years old, as of March 31st, 2025. The course will be studied, in Sanskrit, and for modern subjects in English. To be required to study this course candidates must complete any of the following criteria:
- Prak-Shastri, Uttara Madhyama, Madhyama, Varishtopadhyaya, Upa Shastri, Sahitya, Veda Vibhushan, or Intermediate with Sanskrit.
- Vichakshana of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor
- Diploma in Sanskrit/Shastra
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Sanskrit): The university offers, a Bachelor of Arts in Sanskrit. The course is a 3-year UG program, with the minimum age being 17 years old, as of March 31st, 2025. To be required to study this course candidates must complete any of the following criteria. (Prak-Shastri, Uttara Madhyama, Madhyama, Varishtopadhyaya, Upa Shastri, Sahitya, Veda Vibhushan).
- Intermediate with Sanskrit (or equivalent under the 10+2 pattern)
- Candidates who have studied Sanskrit as one of the subjects in +2 / Intermediate, or those who have completed a Certificate / Diploma Program in Sanskrit offered by NSU or similar institutions, are given preference.
Eligibility Criteria of National Sanskrit University Distance Education PG Courses
Acharya (Level – Masters): The University offers masters in the given specialisations, Puranetihasa, Dharmasastra, Jyotish Acharya and Sahitya. It is offered for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 6 years. To be eligible to study this degree candidates must be of a minimum of 20 years, as of 31st March 2025. Any of the following criteria should be following criteria, to study this degree:
- 3-year degree course/Shastri in respective subjects. (Candidates with Sanskrit as a second language or one of the graduate-level subjects are also eligible).
- Siromani/Madhyama/SastraBhushana/Vidyapravena/Vidyalankara/Vedalankara/Vidwat Madhyama or equivalent exams from approved institutions.
- B.A. (O.L)/B.A. (L), B.A./B.A. (Hons.)/B.O.L or equivalent with Sanskrit from recognized universities.
Post Graduate Diploma (Yoga Vijnana): The university also offers a two-year diploma course in Yoga Vijnana. To be eligible to study this degree, candidates must be a of minimum 20 years, as of 31 March 2025, and the maximum age must not reach above 45 years. To study this course students must pass in 3 years degree course or its equivalent from any recognized university.
