
Utkal University Distance Education: It was established on November 27, 1943, as the founding university of Odisha. The college started operating in 1943 at Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. The University Evening College on November 27, 1974, was transformed into the Directorate of Correspondence programs under the administration of Dr. Ram Shankar Rath operated as the first director from 29 October 1975 to 31 May 1993.
The DCC offered BA and IA programs from July 1975. Later BED and BCOM were introduced, and the distance education department functioned from the administrative block of the university. However, in 1987, the section moved to its current campus.
